Acupuncture is inserting of fine needles into specific points of the body while acupressure is using the thumbs or fingers to apply pressure to specific points. Both have been used to jump start birthing, relieve discomfort and strengthen pressure waves.
➜ The webbing between the thumb and index finger point is believed to correspond to the lower back and may be useful for relieving discomfort during birthing.
➜ The wrist points are located on the inside of the wrist, about three finger widths from the base of the palm. These points are believed to correspond to the uterus and may be useful for stimulating pressure waves and reducing discomfort during birthing.
➜ The lower back points are located about four finger widths from the base of the spine, on either side of the spinal column. These points are believed to correspond to the lower back and may be useful for relieving discomfort during birthing.
