Hip squeeze

One of THE BEST comfort measures during birthing is a double hip squeeze – a type of pressure massage.

➜ This is done by your support person putting the heels of their hands around your hips (below the hip bone) and squeezing your hips in (and slightly up) during your pressure waves.

➜ It pushes your pelvis back into a relaxed position. This relieves the pressure of the baby’s head bearing down, and causes your pelvis to flare out slightly, giving your baby some extra wiggle room.
